Plans are now on display for a future subdivision of AZRI land for urban development.
Any such development would require an amendment to the Planning Scheme.
You can download the detailed document for Alice Springs HERE.(4.7MB)
The Proposed Planning Scheme Amendment can be viewed at
http://www.futurealice.nt.gov.au/forum/schemeamendment.shtml
From the Future Alice Website:
The Minister for Planning and Lands is seeking comment on a proposal to amend the NT Planning Scheme by: Altering Clause 4.3 Planning Principles and Land Use Framework for Alice Springs indicating urban development south of the Gap
Introducing Area Plans and associated Planning Principles for the Arid Zone Research Institute site and for Blatherskite Valley in Alice Springs.
The proposal is open for public comment from Friday 27 November 2009 until 4pm Friday 19 February 2010. |

As the marketing people will tell you, non-internet website publicity works!
What happened in July to lead to all these website visitors?
-Our presence at the Alice Springs Show, of course!
Thanks to all who contributed to the successful show stand, the fridge-magnets and the new memberships.
So what did all these visitors see online? Not very much back then, we're afraid.
So we promise to to meet the future demand with some usability and online content.
